You will be expected to read independently, answer questions, and define at least three tricky or interesting words for each chapter. Additionally, you will be asked to read and comment on your classmates' posts from the day before.

You may include pictures, models, and/or a video of yourself to answer the questions. You will be graded on the effort that you put into your work and your comprehension of the story. Please write and speak using complete sentences!


Define and explain each vocabulary word (in your own words) and give an example, draw a picture, and/or write a sentence using the word.

1. daubed: to smear or cover with soft sticky material such as plaster
2. ruefully: feeling, showing, or causing regret or sorrow
3. coax: obtain by patient, gentle persuasion
